A practical guide for event organisers looking for a local ticketing solution built for the Ghanaian market.
If you organise events in Ghana, you have probably dealt with the frustration of managing ticket sales manually: collecting mobile money payments one by one, keeping track of who has paid, handling gate queues, and chasing receipts. Digital ticketing solves most of these problems, and there are now a handful of platforms designed specifically for the Ghanaian market.
One platform that GhanaTRVL refers event organisers to is Xharp.
One platform that GhanaTRVL refers event organisers to is Xharp.
What is Xharp?
Xharp is a Ghanaian event technology platform designed to help event organisers sell tickets, manage attendance, and collect payments. It is built specifically for African conditions, which in practice means it works across multiple payment channels including Mobile Money, and it includes USSD access so that attendees without smartphones or reliable internet can still buy tickets.
The company is registered with the Registrar General's Department in Ghana and with the Ghana Data Protection Commission. It holds a Delaware incorporation in the United States and works in partnership with Stanbic Bank and Paystack for payment infrastructure, and is backed by Microsoft for Start-ups.
Xharp's own platform description positions it as infrastructure for events of all sizes: from small campus gatherings to large-scale productions. As of mid-2025 they had processed transactions for clients including the Miss Aboakyer pageant, the Ghana CEO and Industrial Awards, several university events, and a range of award ceremonies and dinner nights.
It is a relatively young company. Event organisers who need enterprise-level support or a long track record may want to factor that in when making their decision. That said, the platform's feature set is competitive for its market.
Who is Xharp built for?
The platform is designed for a wide range of event types:
- Live events: concerts, festivals, raves, shows
- Corporate and brand events: product launches, conferences, activations
- Community events: religious organisations, NGOs, associations
- Awards and dinner nights
- Campus events: universities and student organisations
- Agencies managing multiple events
For GhanaTRVL users specifically, Xharp is relevant if you organise ticketed events such as food festivals, cultural events, music nights, travel expos, or tourism industry conferences. It is also worth noting for tour operators and guides who sell access to structured experiences: the platform's online checkout and attendance tracking functions are applicable beyond traditional event formats.
How it works: three steps
Xharp uses a self-service model. Getting started involves three steps:
- Create your event. Log in to the platform at usexharp.io, upload your event details, set your ticket types and pricing, and configure your checkout.
- Share with your audience. Xharp generates a shareable event link. You distribute this through your own channels: social media, email, WhatsApp groups, or any other route that reaches your audience.
- Monitor in real time. Your organiser dashboard shows live transaction data, ticket sales, and attendance tracking as your event progresses.
Ticketing channels
One of Xharp's more practical features for the Ghanaian market is that ticket sales do not require buyers to have internet access or a smartphone. Tickets can be sold through three channels:
Online ticketing: Standard checkout via the Xharp website. Buyers pay using Mobile Money (MoMo), local bank cards, or foreign cards.
USSD ticketing: Buyers dial a short code (the example in Xharp's documentation is \*928\*360#) and complete their purchase without internet access. This significantly widens your potential audience, particularly for events with a broad demographic or rural attendees.
WhatsApp ticketing: Buyers complete their purchase through a WhatsApp conversation powered by an automated chatbot. This channel is available on Pro and Enterprise plans.
Pricing
Xharp operates on three plan levels:
Free plan (0% commission)
The free plan lets you run unlimited events and covers basic features including online ticketing, USSD ticketing, analytics, check-in tools, launch waitlists, custom registration forms, discount codes, and standard customer support. SMS and email notifications are available but capped. WhatsApp ticketing, wristbands, event flyers, MoMo and card payments, and API integrations are not available on this plan.
The free plan is most useful for free-entry events where you want attendance tracking rather than revenue collection.
Pro plan (5% per paid ticket)
The Pro plan adds the full payment stack: MoMo, local cards, and foreign cards. It also includes WhatsApp ticketing, event flyers, Tyvek wristbands, advanced analytics, dedicated customer support, uncapped SMS and email notifications, and API and hardware integrations.
On top of the 5% platform commission, payment processor fees apply: 1.5% for USSD purchases and 2% for online purchases. These processor fees are paid by the ticket buyer, not the organiser. Organisers can also choose to pass the 5% commission on to buyers rather than absorbing it themselves. There are no upfront costs: fees apply only when tickets are sold.
Enterprise / Custom (quote on request)
For major festivals, multi-event programmes, or agencies managing a portfolio of events, Xharp offers a negotiated custom package. This tier includes custom USSD codes, enterprise analytics, dedicated executive-level support, extended API and hardware integrations, customised wristbands, and provided check-in staff.

Pay-outs
Revenue collected through the platform can be withdrawn via Mobile Money or direct bank transfer. Xharp states that pay-outs are processed within 24 hours. You initiate pay-outs directly from your organiser dashboard and can withdraw at any time.
Xharp supports a wide range of Ghanaian banks for direct settlement, including GCB, CalBank, Stanbic, Standard Chartered, UMB, First Atlantic, Republic Bank, GTBank, UBA, FNB, and others.
Donations and fundraising
If you run an association, NGO, or community organisation and need to collect donations rather than (or alongside) ticket sales, Xharp includes a donations module. Donations can be collected alongside registrations or as standalone fundraising. Reconciliation of onsite receivables is also supported.
This makes Xharp potentially useful for trade associations, NGOs, and community groups that want a structured, trackable way to collect contributions at their events rather than relying on cash.
Other features available on the platform
Xharp's full product suite extends beyond ticketing. The platform also offers e-voting for pageants and award shows, a commerce module for merchandise and add-ons, and a pre-finance product that provides cash advances to organisers before ticket revenue settles. These are available separately and are worth exploring once you are familiar with the core platform. Separate proposal documents for each of these are available from Xharp on request.
