It is therefore given the utmost care and well preserved for future generations to be able to see while maintaining its quality. Some of these museums are world-renowned while others are hidden gems. One of these world-renowned museums in Ghana is the Ghana National Museum.

The National Museum of Ghana is located in the Greater Accra Region, in Ghana's capital city of Accra. It is Ghana's largest museum, according to the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board.

It was officially opened on March 5, 1957, as part of Ghana's Independence Day celebrations. The grand opening was unforgettable. Many international guests attended, including The Duchess of Kent and Princess Marina. Mr. A.W Lawrence was the museum's first director.

The beautifully decorated museum houses artifacts from both within and outside the country. The museum houses a collection of artifacts and tools from local tribes. And from other African countries. The museum houses archaeology, ethnography, and fine art objects.

Objects in the archeology section date from the Stone Age to the recent past. Chief's regalia, indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools, and pottery are among those on permanent display at the ethnography gallery. There are also objects from other African countries that were obtained through trade. Senfu masks from the Ivory Coast, Zulu wooden figures, and Southern African beadwork are examples. There are also ancient Ife bronze heads from Nigeria and Bushongo carvings from Congo The small but impressive art gallery's exhibits are mostly contemporary Ghanaian paintings done in oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and collages. Aside from these, there are sculptures in various media.

The National Museum of Ghana is a one-stop shop for learning Ghanaian history in a fun, colorful, and educational setting. Before you can tour the museum, they will charge you a small fee. Visiting the museum will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
