In 2027, Ghana will celebrate its 70th anniversary. In this respect, the National Museum of Ghana is working together with artists, curators, and academics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the University of Michigan (U.S.A) to organise a monumental exhibition that will commemorate this moment in history and trace its impact in the visual arts, art education, exhibition making, and commercial systems.
Together, we explore how Ghana’s independence inspired artists, both home and abroad, to reflect on and contribute to this emancipatory era in individual, collective, and institutional ways.
