Nice to meet you! My name is Yaw Pare and I’m a professional photographer. I hope, that you will enjoy with my photo portfolio and after that we can create something great together!

I am the author of a book called "Remnants of a Haunted Past". In my book and in my photos, I capture the grandeur, the horrors and tragedy that the walls of the forts and castles along the Ghana coastline hold to this day.

To me, all this is about raising awareness. Educating and reminding the world of the history and the legacy that they represent: their engagement in the transatlantic slave trade and the terrible human suffering of so many Africans and people of African descent.

I hope these photographs will start deep conversations between Africans and descendants in the diaspora, and help nurture the process of reconnection and healing.

After all, "a picture is worth a thousand words”.

Fort Komenda

Fort Komenda was built in the late 17th century on Ghana's coastline. It played a role in trade and colonial conflicts. The fort was abandoned in the 19th century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can explore its ruins and learn about its history and significance.
