What previous participants on the Study Abroad Programme enjoyed most
Some of the most memorable experience(s) in Ghana that they wanted to mention:
- For me it was either the school visits where we got to teach or the gold mines. Teaching is what I want to do so I really loved it and the goldmines definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me a whole new level of experiences and opportunities.
- Swimming in the waterfall. The goldmine was amazing. Seafood on the beach. Canopy walk. All of these aside from the school visits and time with locals.
- I loved everything about the trip but especially climbing Afadjato.
- Wandering through the streets in Kumasi and walking tour of Elmina.
- Church service at Bishop Konings.
- The homestay, the Castles, the village and waterfalls
- Visit to Graphic newsroom and Parliament. The lectures at Legon and UCC. Visit to the Research Institute. Sampling nightlife and interactions between students.
- Everything has been FANTASTIC!!! The best was Afadjato, Wli falls, the children were great. The beach and castles at Elmina and ape Coast were great.
- The Slave Castles and Slave River experiences. I learned so much about my history, and about myself through those two experiences. I now have a better connection to my past.
- Touring the slave castles – hearing the guide tell the history and actually walking through it brings a different perspective to the slave trade and a renewed respect for the strength, stamina and courage of my ancestors.
- The monkey sanctuary and cedi beads.
- Each of the performances were memorable: the cultural performance on the last night, the school children dancing in Ziavi, and the dancing at Emancipation.
- Opportunity to enjoy the people of Ghana – drumming and dancing, sharing the lifestyles with friends in Ho, and especially Cape Coast. Going to Black and White Shrine consulting with Nana Abass.
- Mole National Park and the beach dinner.
